Photos of a Split M?

I am needing to split my M to replace the clutch and I was wondering if anyone had some photos they would be willing to post of a split M or H for that matter. I was kind of wanting to see what it all looked like split.
Also, I don't have any concrete around here to work on. Is this a doable job on a dirt floor in a barn? Are splitting stands absolutely necessary for the job? I do not currently have any, but am willing to invest in some if that's what it takes. Thanks.

I was looking over the stainless kitchen sink in the one photo.

Here is my garage and some homemade stands.

I saw a post some time ago where someone was using a couple of these traler stands from Harbor Freight. Looks like a plan if you have to split.

Thanks to all for the great photos. Splitting it looks like it will be a fairly major project. I think I can make it work on wood planks. I can carefully roll it apart.
It is actually a Super MTA w/a fairly late serial #. I checked the # yesterday. What I have read indicates it probably has a 12" clutch and will have to be split. If there were any way to replace just the clutch plate through the bottom, I would sure try it. I will proably just go ahead and get some splitting stands and get it all set to come apart. I will check out those splitting stands.

First, I need to take the loader off. It has a Farmand trip bucket loader on it, which, I am sure will have to come out of the way.

If it is a Super MTA, you will need to split it.

I have a neighbor that claims the clutch can be replaced on a super M without splitting. I won't say that he is right, but it would sure be worth a try. If it doesn't work, you are out a little time, nothing more.

From experience, I can tell you that using the planks on a dirt surface did not work when I replaced the clutch on an 856. I wrecked that brand new clutch plate and had to spend another $100 for the second new plate. That was 35 years ago.

Nah, your bottle jack is just fine. Whenever I was blocking tractors up that way I would always get it set the way I wanted and shake the tractor about as hard as I could - if it didn't fall off I felt safe, and of course always made sure to never really be under it anyway.

Yep, even a meat grinder! That is our only heated garage on the farm so it gets used for EVERYTHING... Dad is currently building my nieces a play-house in there.

If it's not a Super you should be able to drop the belly pump and do the clutch without splitting it. A concrete floor in a shop sure is nice, but isn't necessary. I changed one out in a pasture where it stopped once.

Are those home made stands or did you buy them? They are definitely nice, and from the looks of them they are universal.

Homemade. Sort of copied from a set I used almost 40 years ago that were built by OTC.

I "think" that if it has the 11" clutch you could pull it out thru the bottom.

Unless that darned flywheel needs attention.

Story goes that only the 12" clutch means a split.
Anyone know fer sure?

I have changed the 11 in. clutch in "M" with out splitting . I think in the archives someone put just the disk in a 12 in. without splitting. Maybe the whole works , can't remember.

Geez, hadn't even though of that. Yes, it can be done without splitting, and if you have only a dirt floor, that would be the recommended method.

A dirt floor is going to make that job pretty tough. Some heavy, 2 inch planks will make it do-able, but still going to be tough. I've got pictures of a split H. I'll try to upload them to parts and pieces.

Doing that tractor splitting on a dirt floor may make the job difficult to move the split pieces apart and to mate them together. That's a lot weight to handle. Make sure you're safe when doing this. Here's a web site for splitting stands. Hal
