I have a 560 that is very difficult to get out of gear when it is on an uphill or downhill grade. When it is on level no problem. I adjusted linkage according to book but it did not seem to help. Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks!

The TA needs to be adjusted. If the linkage has a lot of wear, it will require either repairing the looseness, or adjusting to compensate. Look to the archives, or search for box, to find TA adjustment info. JimN

andy, a person usually shifts gears with the tractor running, dont you think.but anyway i know what he is talking about . my 560 was the same way.adjusted it all to spec.and no way you could get it out of gear if on slight up grade, all most like it had the brakes on a bit. i slit the tractor and replaced the clutch disc because it was at the rivets.it shifts very good now, like from 3rd to 4th with tractor rolling. no way before . idont have an actual explanation, other than maybe grease or oil on disc or slines and not releasing.my 460 is next , as it does exactly the same thing.its all set to spec. but will not shift properly.

Is this when it is running or not running? If it is not running, it moves hard just beacuse it is keeping the tractor from rolling.
