I had a burnt valve on my 706 gas. You can check for compression with your finger over the spark plug hole if it is as bad as a burnt valve. I believe these engines tend to carbon up which is one cause of valve margins burning. This is the reason for the "low ash" oil recommendation. Just a possibility.

If you've got a situation like Allan's picture, then it'll be missing on TWO cylinders...
Since you're only missing on one, I'd suspect a bad plug or bad plug wire first. Swap the #2 and #3 wires (on BOTH ends!!!!) first, and see if the miss follows the wire. If it does, get a new set of wires. If not, try swapping the plug. If the miss follows the plug, get new spark plugs.

If new plugs and new wires don't help, do a compression check. You may have burned/stuck valves on #2, or you may have hammered a hole right through the piston by not running enough octane... :(

If it's missing on # 2, I'd be for putting a compression guage on that thing.

no down pressure to 2 pt. You have a bad plug, plug wire, distributor cap, valve, or vacuum leak on # 2. Check firing first. If that isn't the culprit, run a compression test.
