Hi All , I asked on here a few days ago about the best place for bearings for my M . So I checked prices on a few at a couple of different places . Motion Ind. couldn't help me over the phone so they are out of the running since they have what I call " bankers hours " and no Saturdays . I'd have to take off work and take old bearings to them to measure . Napa's prices on the three I asked about were almost twice of what CIH wanted for their parts . That was somewhat of a surprise . I suspect that my Napa dealer charges the max MSRP for their parts . The quality of the bearings could be a little better than CIH but not by that much . So it looks like CIH has my complete order for this rebuild . That is if I can resolve the pilot bearing issue . ...Randy

I had checked with a couple of bearing houses, and they were ~$10 cheaper on some of the bearings. There was also an extra hour's worth of driving to get them.

If I had torn the whole rearend apart because the pinon shaft grease seal was leaking, it might have been worth going to a bearing house. As it was I ordered more and more parts as I got deeper into it.

Our local IH dealer has some of the best countermen in their parts department of anywhere I have found. They seem to know a lot of part numbers by heart, and will order parts without money upfront. In other words, their service is very good. If they are even close on price, I try to support them. Besides, if they go out of business, the next dealer is another 45 minutes away and they are not so interested in a little guy using old equipmet.
