I am lookin to build a 3 point for my IH 856. The biggest thing is being about to run a smaller rough cut mower and a disk/plow to work in smaller rows between tree's. I have been looking for plans or examples of what can me done but havn't come across anything, does anyone know of any plans or have done it before?

Yep,

What these other guys have said.

It's gonna be a real stinker to install, but I'd sure go with the factory setup out of a salvage yard.

Brad: A Cat II hitch from any 06, 56, 26 or 66 series tractor should fit. Try Fawcett Tractor, St Marys ON. In fact if you want me to ask, I'm going to be there today or tomorrow. I can at least find out what they have.

There was an after-market hitch made by Cornhusker that was heavey enough to use on an 806. Had 2 exposed 8" stroke cylinders. Not sure of diameter. Might have been made in Ne. or Iowa area. Used to be one mounted on an SMTA in my area but I might be able to get some information on it. Armand

The 2 point fast hitch OR the 3 point hitch was offered as optional equipment on that tractor. I have seen maybe only one 856 that did not have one or the other, which means the salvage yards should be full of used 3 point set ups designed and built to work well with your tractor. Why re-invent the wheel?
