In your guys" opinion, is a Farmall A decent for mowing. I know a guy that has a Super A and mower and loves it, but how is a regular A at mowing? Also, what"s a good mower to put on a A? Thanks for any info.

A Farmall A is excellent for mowing! Not sure which type of mowing you want to do, but the A will do all of it! Whether a belly mounted or semi-mounted, or trailer-type sickle mower or a mounted finish/rotary mower. Even a pull-type rotary mower/bush hog will work as long as the size is kept reasonable and you aren't in a huge hurry.

If you need hydraulics, they are easy to add - either from the belt pulley, or crankshaft.

Super A just adds a hydraulic system that robs a couple horsepower.

A Farmall A and a Super A would be equally useful for mowing. They are almost exactly the same tractor.

The difference is in how you would have to lift the mower. The Super A has hydraulics to help lift it, the A doesn't.

As a young lad in south central Washington state
I could mow more acreage of alfalfa than any one else. I drove a Farmall A with a rear mounted mower with a 7' sicle bar.

Once I learned how to cut a square corner it was no contest.
