I just picked up an M knowing it had coolant in the oil. Now that I pulled the head I dont see any signs of a bad head gasket or see any obvious cracks... Any thoughts?

There ar many possible issues:
1} The block may be cracked behind a sleeve. allowing coolant to seep into the crankcase
2) the core plugs in the front could be rusted out allowing coolant into pan
3} The head could be leaking but not obvious (have it pressure checked)
4} The head gasket could be bad, but not easily seen (how long did it sit before you got it,could be a tiny leak)
5} cracked block other than at the sleeves
6} Corrosion in casting under sleeves

Pull the pan and fill the block with water and food coloring (enough to be clearly contrasting the inside of the crankcase) and watch for drops (put clean paper down under it if it is a slow leak. Hope it was a gasket!! JimN

You probably should have the head magna-fluxed for a crack. If these's no cracks on the head you should pull the pan and see if there's any leakage around the sleeves. They're dry sleeves
and no coolant should be present unless the antifreeze has lost its rust inhibitor and has started working on the block & sleeve. Hal

Could be that the block is cracked behind a sleeve. That is somewhat common on those engines. Here's what I'd do, Get the cylinder head checked for cracks, surfaced, and all ready to go, reinstall the head with a new gasket, and only assemble as far as needed to have the cooling system sealed up. Then, drop the oil pan, fill the cooling system with new antifreeze and pressurize the radiator to about 10 psi, and see if anything shows up.
