I've spilled some black oil on my driveway, and it's left quite a stain, despite wiping it right up, scrubbing it with some "concrete cleaner" and powerwashing it.
Does anyone know of some really strong degreaser to clean up my driveway? I'd like to make the wife happy so she doesn't hate this tractor so much.

I use sawdust - very cheap, works pretty good. But I don't know that it will make the last remnant of the stain go away.

I'm with the Oil-dri folks below. Get some at the auto supply store or Wal mart. It's cheap. Put a generous amount on the stain, press it in and leave it for a day or two. You may have to repeat several times, but eventually most all of the oil should come up. Also, you can try purple power degreaser.

I'm assuming I need to protect my lawn next to the driveway in some way?

Chlorine bleach in your power washer. . If that doesn't do it use muriatic acid. That WILL get it. Brush it around with stiff scrub brush, let sit 10 minutes, power wash.

Ummmm, lets see, I have used carb cleaner, coleman fuel, Dawn dish soap and have all worked resonably well. with the carb cleaner or coleman fuel, I lay a thick rag down on the stain after most of it is wiped up and pour the fuel on the rag till soaked. pat the rag down for good contact with the cement and then leave it to dry undisturbed. It pulls the oil up and out of the cement into the rag! pretty slick!

Try a can of either. It sure cleans oil and grease off of metal.

Tomato paste, make a slurry let it set scrub it around and rinse. Is bi-degradeable. By slurry cut it with water.

If it's not a big spot use carb. or brake cleaner, just spray and wipe.

My driveway is poured concrete, not blacktop.

I have used speedy-dry - dump some on the concrete, then nail a handle to a short piece of 2x4 to look like a push broom. Rub the speedy-dry with that and it will soak most of the old oil up and leave it looking white. That worked good on my garage floor. Good luck Jim

Like john said, use oil dry and grind it in real good, zero turn mower works great, or the front end of an H! I've heard of people using concrete mix. Just use your heel on a spot, grind it back and forth a several of times and check the result.

put some of the oil dry (kitty litter) on it and use a brick to grind it in. Let it set a while and seep off.
