I have pulled the oil pan on the A to remove the dents and clean it out. I see the oil pump has a piece of gasket about 3/16 long sticking out the side (right side). Have I been running with no oil pressure? Can I remove the cover with the pump in the tractor and replace the gaskets? Manual mentions setting gear end-play with gaskets, how do you measure this? I assumed my gauge has been busted, its 1/4 full of oil.

With a flat cover, feeler gauges will work.

If the process is similar, (I have a Super-A), it"s easy enough to take out- two bolts on the outside of the block and it slides right out of it"s bore.
Otherwise, I have mine sitting out, and I"ll watch what the pros say, because I have to do the same "figuring" with mine.

P and R thanks, I needed to know if it came out easily. Search the archive for oil pump got back 325 entries. Seems this is common to A's and B's. Remove the cover check for cracks, and flatness. Sand smooth on Fine emery on glass. I need to know how to measure gear end play. Plasti-gauge?
