I just got back from picking up my 1923 Olds grain truck late thurs night. It runs good so I am ready to haul wheat for someone next July. Ok, just kidding, I won"t tie up the line at the elevator! I went to the Tulare Ca show after picking up the truck and that was a BLAST! Thanks MikeCa for letting me know about it. Met a lot of great people out there and saw a lot of machines you just don"t see many of in Indiana. Mikes tractor is running great and the work he has done on it so far looks great! Bad thing is I didn"t make it home before the gas prices shot up through the roof. I will be on a bean and cornbread diet for quite a while. Sure is good to be home!

Glad you made it home in one piece! "Running great"? Who are you kidding. My H is running better, thanks to you, but far from great. Anyway, I got a new battery into it and drove it home. My wife clocked me on the way back... 21 mph top speed! But the engine still sounds like it's missing a bit.
Anyway, glad you got back. You'll miss CA... just you wait.

Dang! we forgot to put the GPS on it and check the speed! Oh well too many people around unless we took it to the "back 20". That was a long drive home at 55-60 the whole way back. I got 9 MPG most of the way, unless I hit a stretch with a dead on tail wind. That Old Truck has the areodynamics of an outhouse and it really killed my mileage! The other thing is the crowds it attracted at rest stops and gas stations. Got to be a pain after a while as I couldn"t get out of there. The alley next to my barn was pretty buzy today with people driving by to look at it. The miss that you have may be due to the gasket having some dirt under it since it was loose, or a "burr" in the intake causeing gas to "puddle up" behind it or a bad or dirty valve. Also the "miss" is not bad at all for an old engine that hasn"t seen a rebuild in years. Good to meet your family out there. Hope they had fun! Has your wife driven it yet? be careful if she hasn"t, you just might have to get another H for her to drive!
