I"m rebuilding the engine on a 1949 Farmall H.
My question is, what is the proper torque for the head bolts, and is there a sequence that I need to tighten them in?

Torque head bolts to 70 ft/lbs.

Sequence for tightening nuts should begin at the center of the head and then back and forth across the head toward each end.

Also, torque the bolts in 3 or 4 steps. I always start at 1/4 torque, torque all the bolts, then torque again at 1/2 torque, then 3/4 and finally full torque. Torque again when engine is hot.
