I've been offered a generator that has been converted to 12v for a good price. But the genny is off an IH 424. I want to put it on my '44 H.

Does anyone know if this genny will fit?

It will fit but you need the adjustable pulley.

The problem will be the generators that used the adjustable pulleys had a longer shaft.

Most gen. were the same external size, number of brushes, windings, etc were what made the diffence. Have you measured? We have a couple converted 6 to 12, just makes it more convenient to find batteries, regulators, and jump starts. Six volt parts and pieces are getting harder to find, only been 50 years since they were the norm.

It probably would not be a direct swap, but you could probably make it work. The tough part would be figuring out how to tighten the belt.
