Hey everyone. I just started to take the rear end apart in the super h this weekend and wanted to test the bearings. I was wondering what to listen and look for. I was told a while back that if you turn the bearing slowly and you feel resistance or a little "bump" the bearing is going bad. Is this true? What would be the borderline point? I am rebuilding it for show and tractor drives so it wont be worked that hard but i dont what to have it painted and have a bearing go out and have to tear into it again. Thanks

There is only so much that you can tell about a used bearing when holding it in your hand. How did the drive train sound before you took it apart? If you have a bearing that makes any noise at all while rotated under no load, or has any more than a slight amount of "wiggle" in the inner race I'd replace it.
