Tractor faltering as I increase throttle. Have gone thru the carb and it looks OK. Book says to check plugs. They are old so plan to change them. What is the recommended plug for an "M"? The book says AC-87 or Champ 15-A. Not sure if either of these are still available.

Thanks

"PL Gas only" thanks. Still plan to replace plugs but when I reset the old ones to .030 the faltering stopped.

absolutly nothing wrong with champions. just bought a tractor that had 2 dead autolite 386 plugs in it.i can say i have not experienced this with champions, that they will absolutly not fire.so the autolites are not all what there bragged to be.my opinion.

I use ac85-86-87 in all my old JD and IH.

Quit using champions years ago and have been sleeping peacefully every since.

NGK A7 has worked for me. Might be one range too cold for you.

Consider the Autolite 3116 Non-Resistor Plug. Works well for me.

Any one using plugs (Bosch?) with more than one side electrode? Years ago that was the only kind my dad and uncles would ever use in the F20s.

I have excellent luck with Champion D-18Y plugs. I'm sure the Autolite is probably excellent also. mike

Like LP gas says the crap gas we get today is prone to fouling plugs. So unless you work your M really HARD, Champion D-21 or Autolite 388 will be your best bet.

Contrary to what some others have found, I've had no problems whatsoever with Champion plugs - I have' em in all my tractors. Maybe I'm just lucky?!!

Anything BUT champions!! I have been using Autolite plugs. I think the # is 386. If it uses oil, use 388. Be sure to use solid core wires.
Gap the plugs at .030 and not the .024 like the want you to. This new gas sucks, but, I have had good luck like this.
