I just got a real nice wd9 standard, I need some info on what position the linkage on the right side of the engine is supposed to be in when it swithed to diesel and what position it is in when on gas. I do know the "cross shaft return spring" is broke, is the spring supposed to hook the post on the block towards the front, and the mechanism behind the intake, Is the shaft that is in the intake supposed to move or just the front half, and lastly the serial number is WDBC59422W12B. I not to familiar with the red tractors so this is going to be a learning experience. Doug

dwsc, The spring has a long and short end. Hook the long end through a hole in the mechanism behind carburetor, it is at the highest point of the mechanism and the spring pulls forward to the post at front of engine. When it is in its proper position it will be in a flat line with the head gasket. The whole intake shaft rotates up for gas down for diesel. On the back side you will find a V shaped lever which is operated by a vertical linkage with a flat bar that fits in the V. Good luck, Chuck

dwsc, That is a two piece shaft, it has been a long time since I have had one apart but I thing they join in the V shaped bracket. Take the cover off the end of manifold and soak it with WD40 there is only an over center lever and spring in there, the front has a switch for the ignition. Glad to hear it runs well, Chuck
