Have just purchased a "1950 Fordson" 4 cylinder petrol/kero tractor. Where can I find serial numbers or other identifying features on the unit.

The radiator simply has the word Fordson (not major or dexta). It is fitted with an electric starter motor. What is the battery polarity on these tractors. POSitive to ground or is it NEGative to ground???

Any help to get me started would be a help. Thanks.

all old tracters are positive ground equipment that i know of and on early fordsons the s# is stamped on the the flywheel housing near the starter. effective on s# 1380939 the serial no is on a pad located at the front right hand side of the engine cylender block. in november 1961 the s#designation was changed from a 7 digit to a six digit when the new system was introduced only the six digits were stamped later a "z"was added infront of the number but was deleted after a short time.

If it is a 1950 it should be a E27N. The serial number is on the upper right hand side of the engine block. On the surface where the manifold bolts up between the front two ports. The electrical system should be 12 volt, positive ground.
