I have a 730 row crop dieselthat has a noise in the transmission when the clutch is engaged. The trans growls pretty bad when driving. I took the clutch out and although wore pretty bad, looked ok. One of the clutch bands had come off the 3 cornered disc, so I epoxied it back on. Haven't went back with the clutch yet, waiting to look into trans further. I took the little bearing cover off behind the belt pulley, and that bearing looked fine. It looks like I might need to take the whole belt pulley side of the trans off, but I am wondering if that would be the right thing to do yet. I know it is hard to diagnose without hearing it, but just thought someone might know what was a common problem. Also, can't see for sure how to get the clutch fork out. I'm familiar with the older 2-cyl's that come out the front, but this one looks like the whole side has to come off. Also, I noticed I can't seem to get the tractor in 6th or 4th anymore. Thanks for any help you might have. Bob

Bob, The noise coming from your transmission is most likely from either worn bearing/bearings or misaligned gear from wear or improper assembly sometime in the tractors life. To get to and remove the fork you will need to remove the pulley dust cover and disassemble the clutch disks and remove the bolt, retainer washer, and drive disk from the crankshaft. Disconnect the clutch operating rod and remove bolts that retain pulley oil seal housing to right side gear cover. There should be 1 cover on the top and bottom each of the gear cover that are retained by 2 bolts. Remove the covers and you will see the fork retaining bolts. Bend the securing tab away and remove the bolts. You then should be able to slide the entire clutch pulley assembly out and remove the fork. Good Luck! Jim
