Thanks to all who helped ID my 440 tractor with the #71 lift. My next questions are : 1) where can I get operators / shop books for the 440 and the 71?( and the sherman backoe for that matter) 2) I know there is a "check" screw for hydrolic fluid located under the control valves for the lift. Do I check fluid level with lift (and Backhoe) in the fully extended position? full DOWN position ?tractor on or off ? etc?? 3) how do you check the power steering fluid? Thanks again for the help.Love the tractor Jeff Rose

Jeff:
From page 11 of the Operator's Manual - Check the Oil with the bucket on the ground and level. There is a reservoir on the right side of the engine - remove the cover and fill to the mark with Type "A" automatic fluid (Page 46).
The Operators's Manual for the 71 loader is OM-D51-358 or OM-U11634U, the Operator's Manual for the 440 tractor (Gasoline) is OM-T55-458 and are available as reprints from Deere. Also Deere has reprints of the Service and Parts Manuals.
