I'm working on a friend 720 the bushing have went out of idler gear to the hyd pump, my question is how does this set up get oil, the little pin that gear runs on is drilled like oil comes through it but I can't find the scorce of the oil, if it is just slung up on why the hole in the shaft.

If the Model 720 gas is like a Model 70 gas and I think it is the idler shaft is lubricated by splash oil. The gasket between the hyd. pump and the governor housing from John Deere has a special cut-out to catch the splash oil and funnel it around the pin that holds the idler shaft in place. It flows on into the drilled idler shaft and to the bushing of the idler gear. Without the proper gasker, the oil cannot get to the shaft. Hope this helps. Dave
