I live in Minnesota and the tractor will be used mainly for snow removal and occasionally for fun in the summer. The motor has not been rebuilt, runs well, and doesn't leak.

Would 5W-30 be too thin for the summer?

Thanks for any information,

Joel B.

If your motor is burning any oil don't use the synthetics. It takes a much higher temp to burn it. Other than that the 5w-30 should be fine.

The answer to your question lies with the oil pressure. If you can maintain good oil pressure using 5w30, that's great and a good choice for the Minn. winter. My $.02
