I'm looking at a Gehl 1470 round baler that looks to be a pretty good machine. Anybody have any experience with them good or bad? It makes a 4'x5' bale and is electric tie. Priced at $3400.

Well,if you find another one, that's a pertty good price. I've had a 1500,1450 and have a 1475 now. Neighbor had a 1400 when the 4x5 first came out. Good reliable machine. Only problem I see is the packing roll in front. They don't like foreign material, such as a large stick,a big wad of green hay, things like that.

I've never owned a round baler, but I've hired round baling done with Gehl, Vermeer, NH, and JD balers. Gehl will get the job done, but has the poorest bales (loosest) of any I've had work for me.

Nevermind, they sold it yesterday. Anyhow, what do you guys think of the Gehl machines in general? I don't know much about em, though I kinda like the looks of em. A friend of mine has a 2 or 3 year old one and it is a heck of a machine. But what about the 10-15 year old ones. Preferably a 4'x5' machine.
