Hi, I am working on a Buffalo Springfield KT-7 ser#25996 Diesel 4 cyl. Do any of you folks have any info on this or even know when it was built?
It does run but we are trying to do some maintenance on it.
Thanks,
Alan

Got a catalog in today...Koehring also acquired Bomag, a German builder of road const eqpmt, etc., apparently operating it as one of its Divisions. A Bomag note said it"d opened its US office (guess where?) Springfield, OH. This catalog (1989) lists Buffalo Bomag, Buffalo Springfield Road Const Eqpmt under one heading. The KT7 and KT7A aren"t there, but the KT7B is, lumped with the KT8 (the 69 catalog had the KT8 also lumped in with KT7, KT7A and KT7B). Have fun!

I am also looking for a service manual or some documentation on the final drives for a KT8. Any information is greatly appreciated

In digging around on B-S (I wondered if it had any connection to the old Kelly-Springfield truck co of Springfield) I see it was acquired by the Koehring Company, becoming their Buffalo Springfield Division, but whether it's still going I dont know...ALSO: I noted several units posted, and I just noticed the shop numbers seemed to run consecutively: 1924 steam #12442, 9-17-27 ? #14015, 1928 steam #14795, 8-12-33 #16000 (they were making steam and gasoline units in the mid-20's, perhaps earlier). If Koehring or it's successor has no prod info, and the "shop numbers" were consecutive, one might build a rough dateline by compiling the units in various posts...

Can't really help much; all I have is a couple fan belt catalogs that list it. One from 50 shows it(no years stated)with three engines: Herc IXB5, Cont Y112 (both gas 4cyl) and Herc DIXC, which I assume is the diesel. A 69 catalog shows KT7, 7A and 7B (no years) with same three engines...
older posts here mention models back into early 20's and some state IHC logos found on some models; one states B-S "bought out in 60's" but doesn't say by whom, and none I saw mention info or parts sources(going thru the archives here is quite an adventure). NOTE: the only catalog I have that includes the DIXC (Fed-Mog 1963) seems to list it as both a 2cyl and 4cyl ??? with the 2cyl bore smaller than the 4cyl, which sounds crazy...With sympathy, good luck.

The September 2002 issue of OEM off-highway magazine has an article titled Rock and rollers. It has some facts about Buffalo Springfield. Koehring was later acquired by AMCA Intl (later United Dominion Ind.). UDI then acquired the compaction division of Hyster Co. and formed Compaction America in Kewanee Il. In 1990 Bomag moved there.
