It is a bit cold out there. It hasnt even warmed up to zero yet. Sounds like this weekend will be far worse. Gotta fill the wood room up today, been so busy in the barn that I sorta let the wood get low, oh well furnace still hasnt run in 3 weeks. Remember to bundle up out there. I always say I may look funny, but I'm warm! I'd look funnier all frost bit. My youngest bundles up good, but the 11 year old boy and the 15 year old daughter are at the foolish age andare more worried about messing up their hair than keeping their noggen warm.

that cold is headed across wisconsin for northren il. those highland cows don't know it's cold they were laying out in pasture this morning could care less about cold. at least it got warm enough a couple of weeks ago to melt ice and snow so we can drive and walk to barn without looking for a good place to land.

Had 13F this morning, but a rare thing in Michigan--SUNNY DAY!! Cut a load of wood this afternoon, according to the same blonde weather lady that rrlund and RayP(MI) listen to we're going to have a few really cold days. Guess I'll do some inside jobs. Keep wife happy. Maybe?
Paul

One of 'em was saying just the other day that we've only had 7 days in the past 72 days that were greater than 50% sunshine. Might as well be freakin Seatle or something.

Here in central Iowa it's cold and the only thing that stops the wind between here and the Minnesota border is one tree and a steel fence post.

Dave, just to your north it"s even cooler, i"m in western Manitoba, and woke up to a temperature of -15F and a windchill of -54F, right now after doing chores the windchill has moderated to -44F, but the temperature hasn"t gone up yet... ah, the joys of winter... stay warm everybody!

We have a local veterinarian who always runs around in a T-shirt, winter or summer, even in zero weather. That's it, just a T-shirt. He's around 80 years old now, so it must work for him.

When I was a GM salesman, I was on duty on the used car lot one day. It was about 25 or 30 degrees and a younger fellow walked on the lot wearing just a T-shirt. Though I'd never seen him before, I thought that has to be Doc's son. It was!

Growing up in Michigan I had a friend who always walked around with his jacket open. One day I asked him why. He said so when it gets really cold he could zip it up and be warm. I pointed out to him that it was -15F!!! I guess his plan worked.

The worst of it hasn't made it across Lake Michigan yet. Had a heck of a wind, but the temp was 15 above this morning. Worst of it isn't supposed to be here til Saturday and Sunday. The good news, that diesel pickup that had been giving me cold starting problems actually started, unaided this morning!

Yeah Randy - Terrie. Got a lot of respect for that weather team, have talked with a couple of them in person, exchanged emails with others. Don't think much of that little curly haired girl on the weekends, however. Think they borrow her for their "other" channel.

Were we not invincible at that age too? I finally got my 19-year-old son to keep a hat and a pair of gloves in his car.

I have one brother that keeps enough to survive a week in his truck at -20, the other brother only keeps a cap and gloves, and he is the one most likely to hit the ditch or have vehicle problems, and he is the oldest.

We are right at -40/-42 windchill in SW Manitoba this morning. I listened to the radio this morning and there was not one cancellation. I don't give snowmobiles credit for much (anymore) bvut they did introduce us to some darn good lightweight winter clothing.

I am practically your neighbour. I live 2 miles south of Lenore (which is midway between Virden and Kenton). I have fished in Arrow Lake which is near you. I also sunk a boat right off the boat launch at Rossman Lake. The boat was easily retreived, the motor got a bit of a drink and somewhere underwater there is probably still a good set of socket wrenches.
