An expert may be able give a definitive answer, but I think it may be a good idea to find a replacement condensor to match the switch from positive to negative ground. The condensor is an electrolytic capacitor which would make it polarity specific. On my Case 630 (Pos Gnd), the condensor has a red lead. On my other tractors (Neg Gnd), it's black. Same manufacture.

just switch the wires on the coil, and the battery of course.

I do know just switing the coil leads will not work.... i will more then likely use a Chrysler coil and ballast resistor.... and as someone else stated switch the amp meter leads.....

If the system is already 12V, and the coil is in good working order, there is NO NEED to change it. Just reverse the wires. If it labeled (+) and (-), the (+) will go to the ignition switch, and the (-) will go to the distributor.

If the system is 6 volt, that would be another matter.

short version of long subject: you can put a delco alternator on it and change it to neg ground as the other posts stated with no problem you will have to change some wires and it will be cheap and generlly more effective i have done this many times
