Does any one know the horsepower rating for a '63 International B 414 diesel? I'm going to put a shredder behind it and am thinking of going with a 6'.

I don't know what you mean by a "shredder", but I use a 6' Brush Hog on my B-275 with no problem. Handles 4' tall weeds with no problem and has slightly less power than your tractor. My engine is an Indian made 144 cubic inch, and your's is an Indian made 154, as I recall.

I called them brush hogs when I was on the farm in Ohio, but the Texans all told me that I must be talking about a shredder. I just got used to calling it that, but basically, they are the same thing. Thanks for the assist, I've done some more research and found that you are correct, the B414 does have a 154 ci, but get different answers on if the Indians or the Brits built them.

I think they've been called British because Britian controlled India at one time. I also suspect the tractors were more marketable as British. British bikes and cars were popular, so why not tractors? As I recall, when my B-275 was built around 1959, India was independent. IH commissioned Mahindra Corp. to build the tractors for them. Mahindra makes one presently that has around 80 % of the original parts as the B-275. Sheet metal is changed a bit and it has a new engine. Somewhere around here I've got a pretty good history of the dealings IH had with Mahindra and the evolution of the "British" series of IH tractors. I think they started working together during WWII. Along the same argument, I've got a motorcycle that many call British, although it too was built in India for many years. Started out as a Royal Enfield (actually built in England), then became Indian Enfield.

That makes things a little clearer, makes perfect sense, too. Wherever it was built, it is one tough little tractor with a more powerful feel than others I've driven of the same size. Appreciate the info.
