I have a couple gas tanks that have rust and other deposits in them. The tractor tank I can think of several ways to clean. The other tank which needs cleaning is the tank on my moped. On that the tank is part of the frame. Therefore it cannot be removed or rotated. Anyone know of a chemical that would work. I think I will agitate it by connecting the drain of the tank to my air compressor thru a regulator so It will bubble inside the tank. Any ideas for a chemical?

Thanks

Any one ever try Sani-Flush. I use this to get the rust off my traps. I mix up a good concentrated amount in a plastic 5 gallon bucket enough to cover the traps and soak till rust is gone. Usually a day or two depending how bad they are. Might work????? ?

Muriatic acid is the most effective product I have ever found for cleaning gas tanks. Use it straight, use extreme caution, and do not use it with aluminum.

If your gas tank had holes in it after cleaning it is because the rust had already penetrated the steel, and would have leaked no matter what method you used to clean it.

I recently cleaned the rust from a motorcycle tank useing a some stuff I got at the local motorcycle shop. It was a kit to clean out the rust and put a coat of glue type chemical. The rust remover worked great but the glue didnt. Might be a good place to check.

I've used turpentine to clean tanks before it seems to do a good job of removeing rust from most things
