Cutting Edge

I need a new cutting edge on my tractor bucket.
Haven't bought one in 15 years and now the outfit
I used to buy from is out of business. No tractor
or contractor supply houses in my area carry them
either. What type of dealer should I check with?
There is a regular steel supplier nearby but I
believe cutting edges are hardened. Any ideas?
Thanks.

I don't know where you are but McNeilus Steel (Minnesota/N.Dakota) has it. Many welding and fab shops buy steel from this place or places like it. You should be able to order it at most any welding or metal fab shop near you and they can get it from their steel supplier.
You mentioned a regular steel supplier near you, they should be able to get it. Click the link for McNeilus catalog listing of cutting edge steel.

Depending on how you use it I've use old grader blade from the road dept. to make them and also I have used 1/4 inch by 4 inch strap to make them. Just depends on how and what I'm going to do with them

I have a thread going on tool talk about steel prices. I priced 3/8" X 3" grader blade last week. It was $1.90 a foot. That was in Mankato, MN. They had it in 21' lengths and would cut to order.

I'm amazed how many people from Mankato are on this forum. I went to the county highway dept. and got a used grader blade and had it cut to fit.

Loren in Mankato.
