Can anyone out there tell what goes wrong, (and I guess what is right) with a case 2590. I am looking for simple, cheap, dependable horsepower and have been steered this way. Any help would be much appreciated as the Case line is new to me. (Yes, I know that I'm coming to the party pretty late, but I had to stay after school) Thanks Guys.

Our 2590 has been bullet proof for us. Has 5800 hours on it with no problems. Previous owner had all the updates put in the tranny/rearend at 4500 hours. When we bought it the dyno showed 218 horsepower at 1000 RPM on the PTO. We pull 26 anhydrous spikes, 28 foot disk, 26 foot chisel plow (12" sweeps), 28 foot vibra-shank (8" sweeps), etc. Never breaks a sweat on those loads in heavy soil.

Around here they are CHEAP horsepower, many of them going for around $8000 to $15000 with anywhere from 3500 to 6500 hours on them.

Don't really know of any real problem areas, cab is quieter than our 1086, power shift is jumpy at high RPM. The 504 turbo diesel is very reliable and long-lived from what I've heard...

The 2590 Case is a powerful (180HP) tractor with a lot of "built in" weight (about 13000#). The cabs were solid but not as quiet as a JD or CaseIH Magnum. The 3-point hitch was a little on the awkward side but still very useable.

Alot of the Case's of that era came out of the factory over their rated hp. Know of 2 2590's that were dynoed at just under 230 hp. I can't say as I have heard of any of the neighbors that had them ever open them up. I know the one had over 5000 hrs without even an overhaul.
