Most of the time when someone posts an "is it a scam" email on this or other message boards, it always strikes me as a waste of space, and I swore I'd never do it, but this is a good one I got today, and here it is VERBATIM...

Ebay has full access to your account without your permission, part of the contract when you signed up. if they need to do anything to it they will without wasting time on asking you about it.

I've gotten notices that my account information needs to be updated... failing to do so may result in my not being able to bid on an auction! Then, they said, just click on this link and update all account info... needless to say, I didn't! Haven't had any trouble bidding since! Was going to report to E Bay, but wasn't sure of the address. Seems a shame a person has to be suspect of EVERY communication someone attempts with you, but, guess it's a sign of the times!

This is a well-known scam used to get eBay account information from gullible users. You will be directed to a bogus site that looks very much like an eBay site.

If you want to do something about this, forward your email to spoof@ebay.com. Make sure that you've set your mail preferences so that the full headers are shown in the message. (You should see a bunch of lines that say "Received by:" following by the address of a mail relay.) eBay can use this information to track down the sender of the spoof.

They must just figure everybody uses it? Got to be a dumb scam but I admit the first one I got had me worried a little till I saw what they wanted to know and then I knew this was wrong and no way could they just ask for that and be legit. Mark H.
