Over/Here in the UK it's really been snowing hard. In our little patch we have had about 3cm and the temperatures have plummetted to below zero (Celsius, of course). Everywhere there are signs of panic with people being told to stockpile food. It is a terrible situation. No one knows how they will manage to survive as temps are forecast as low as -15!! (only at night, and probably only in the Scottish highlands). Only this evening our power was cut for about 3 hours (yes HOURS not DAYS). Life will be unbearable for most of the inhabitants for several days.
Me? I couldn't care a jot. Always enough food to last a month in the freezer, enough fuel for the generator if needed, etc etc. I do feel for the OAPs and infirm who cannot get about so well, even in the better weather, but this cold snap with snow is really a big joke. Only in Britain do we fall apart at the thought of a hard winter spell!!!
Regards, RAB

I woke up to -38F here this morning. As the kids were waiting for the school bus, I heated a cup of water to boiling. Took it outside and tossed it in the air. It made a crackling noise and disappeared into a dense mist/fog before it hit the ground. Science lesson for the day.

Aloha,

It's 76 deg's over here in Honolulu Hawaii and it's getting warmer. I wish we still had our winter weather with a lot of liquid snow.

Mahalo,
Howard

Aloha Larry,

Now Larry, you wouldn't want to trade all of that good white fluffy stuff for some liquid snow (rain),do you?? Just joking. We had a lot of rain recently, more than we had in about 10 years. We also had high winds with the rain so there were a lot of damage. Looks like we are back to our normal weather amd I know how you all must feel with all that cold weather you are having.

Mahalo,
Howard

Just got back from picking up a tractor north of Winnipeg....-40 last Sat morning and cold all the way back till I hit the mountains. It is a bad time of the year to be in Canada! Mid 30's today in Spokane felt balmy.....

That Leduc area is a real cold pocket in this region. Seems your temperatures are always a few degrees colder than other centers that are the same distance from the big city. Must be because of all the old oil wealth still sitting in the banks down there !!!

Ah yes I do remember those days! I was on a ranch in Clyde Park Mt. back in 1976 when it dropped to -52 one time. Had my feeding truck plugged in and it started OK but it would almost kill the engine when I let out the clutch. Finally got all the ice chopped out of the water holes in the creek and the stock fed by noon.

Today it was 62 deg. here in sunny southern AZ.

It was around 30 last night in NE Ohio. Not that bad. We have a bit over a foot of snow on the ground, but then we got freezing rain as part of...a thunder storm. I'm sure that's the first time I've seen lightning flashing while snow and ice was covering everything.

Quite an interesting winter. Supposed to be in the 20s with more sleet and freezing rain coming, turning to snow later.

Howard! How big is your house in Hawaii? I lost my job and could use a tan. It didn't make 0 here in northwest Iowa today. Where I live we got 12 to 14 inches of snow Sunday/Monday. It did create work for me pushing snow as a charitable effort.
