Have a Ford 640 with no loader. What's the best way to move snow with it? Planning on getting a 7 ft grader blade for it. Is this the way to go and would you drive it backwards like a snowplow or just drive right through it? Thanks

mount a 7 ft piece of angle back-words over the cutting edge and you will never tare your driveway up

I have a tractor with a loader and one without. I find it easier to move snow with a read blade on the tractor without the loader. Going backward works best. I have found that tire chains are a must.

I use a blade to move snow because of the versitility of a blade. They are handy to have all year round. I like a 7 foot blade because it covers the tracks of my 2000 Ford. However, Heavy of hard packed snow will be a challenge for your 640. I generally push snow driving backwards. That way your tires do not pack the snow before the blade moves it. You'll find that you'll drive both directions depending on circumstances. One more hint. If you get a blade without pads, try pushing the snow with the blade backwards. You'll not cut up the yard or push stones in your grass.

A cheap way to do it is to build a snow pusher by constructing something that resembles a door out of heavy treated planks. Attach it to the three point and back into as much snow as you want. It helps to have weight and chains on the rear tires. Good Luck.

The weight of the front loader will work against you if you don't remove it.
