My M600 bobcat with wisconsin VF4 engine was running fine..good oil pressure, then, total loss of oil pressure ( as observed at the filter and feed lines to the filter canister) I have no flow to the filter or out of the engine block to the filter lines. This engine did sit for many years and I did flush the block ( but only once) I really dont want to pull the engine out of the machine, does anyone have any experance they can share regarding loss of oil to a remote filter...Could it be a stuck oil filter by pass??? What do you think of this plan..drain oil, fill engine crank case with kerosine, drain, repeat.....( in an effort to remove any gunk that might be in the pump, lines, etc...then fill with oil and see if pressure returns. Other suggestions...???

Thanks for any advice.

Bruce

Just had an onan with the same problem. Took oil filter off and no oil flow. Hoping for a stuck bypas like you. No such luck. Pickup screen was pluged and the oil pump gears were in pieces to the tune of $513 for a new pump.

Sounds like a plugged screen, either something from the engine flush or a piece of dried out gasket from where it sat. Figure at least a screen clean and I'd replace the pump while I was there.

I had this exact thing happen to a friend of mine. He put an engine oil flush into his engine. It really cleaned out the engine, and put all that gunk into the oil pan. All that gunk was sucked up by the oil pickup, which was then hopelessly clogged. We dropped the pan and replaced the oil-pump pickup, but the engine never really held oil pressure quite the same as it did before flushing.

Is this a bypass filter? If so, have you changed the filter? It may be your replacement does not have the same back-pressure (resistance) and too much oil is going through the filter. Pressure is not a measure of flow, they are measured in entirely different units.
Hope this helps, RAB
