Hi!

I've been tracking down my grandfather's early 50's Farmall Super MTA. It went through several local owners and then was sold to a Canadian museum of one type or another. I haven't been able to get in contact with the last local owner. Does anyone know of any such museums in Canada? Or better yet, does anyone have a list of them? At the least I'd like to go see it, but what I'd really like to do is acquire another one (in even better shape) to see if they'd be willing to trade it back to the family.

Thanks in advance....

Mark

To my knowledge, in Canada anyways, once something is in the possession of a museum (either by donation or by selling) it is not that easy for someone to obtain it even by purchase. There are a number of hoops to go through including that of other museums must proclaim they have no interest in it. You could imagine that it would be quite a chore. Where abouts do you live?

Mark - Do you know which province the tractor was sold into? The largest museum here in Ontario was the Ontario Agriculture Museum in Milton Ont. The Ontario Gov't pulled their funding 10yrs ago but it is still in operation as the Country Heritage Park. They have many, many tractors in their collection, the majority were donated and a tax reciept issued. However, some were just loaned to the museum and are still owned by individuals.

I have no idea where it went. All I can think of is to contact each one and see who has a Super MTA. If there's only one, that's probably the tractor I'm looking for. I'm hoping my grandmother still has the old paperwork that would have a serial number or something to verifty it with. Also, I know my grandfather made a custom bracket to hold his water jug. My dad said it looked so good, everyone thought it was a factory option! So hopefully that is still on the tractor as well. I wouldn't need the serial if it is!

Thanks for the input,
Mark

Mark - Where was your grandfather located ? There are museums all across Canada with the majority of ag museums being privately owned. There are several large tractor and implement museums all through the west. You must remember that Canada is a very large country!
