I was watching one of the WW2 movies over the weekend (D-Day thing) and it showed them making a runway over in the islands of the south pacific with a machine that looked very similar to the one in the picture. All the dozers of that time period had cable lifts for the blade. And the commentator said that if the enemy was on the island...you drove most everywhere with the blade up...to protect the driver. If you were an enemy sharp shooter...you'd have to shoot two cables in two before you could get to the driver. Did you ever try to cut a cable with anything besides a torch? You'd be better off shooting a hole in the radiator or block and waiting for the driver to crawl off. Fred OH

We use one like that at work to grade the roads in the spring.
