Ugh!!!

3am comes too darned early!

I've been thinkin': Maybe all of us down in the mouth red guys have been looking at this Case/IH merger thing completely wrong for the past few years. Things weren't really as they seemed.

Does anyone remember that when this merger into Tenneco happened that Case was all but non-existent?

Yes, let's face it. The IH name saved that old Case line from completely going the way of the dinosaur. Whew! Good thing IH was there to bail ‘em out.

Why, they even put the Case name in front of the IH to help jump start ‘em again.

Darned big-hearted gesture, I’d say. :>)

Allan, One thing Case realized is that IH red sells better than Case cream and orange, or Steiger chartreuse, thus the paradigm decision to, if nothing else, use paint that sells. IH may have made a lot of business blunders (enough to put them out of business), but they did have the paint right.

I'm with ya on that one Charlie.

Pickups are closing in on $50K and tractors at $100K. Corn at $3 a bushel.

I think the whole darned world has just about gone compeletly wacko.

You are right. Without IH, the Case name would now be like Oliver, A-C, Cletrac, Cockshutt and many others.
The IH agriculture line was a victim of many forces including poor management, inflexible unions, the russian embargo, an overall weak economy etc. But IH had a fairly complete line of ag equipment. Case was down to a few unpopular tractors and not much else. Tenneco saw a chance to aquire a complete ag line, including an established customer base and dealer network, without spending time and money on development.
The rest is history.

SIMPLE.....The golden rule..... ...He who has the gold rules. IH had tractors, Case had M.O.N.E.Y.
Neither would have survived without each others contribution. $$$$$$$$ win though. John

They even had the good sense to use the red paint, they knew that would get them recognition.

Most of us working stiffs have a Job we have to go to.
If we are off today (like me) we have a wife saying "Stop talking to your tractor buddies and get off that computer and go cut the grass" So I'll see you all later.

There's also those of us who are too young for a job, and have nothing to do outside. It's pretty cool and wet up here in central Alberta. Oh, here's a question. What are the production years for the Ford 6600? It's not quite an antique, as far as I can tell, but getting there. I'm just curious as to how old it is.

Hi Steve,

No, this is when my day starts. I have to get all the work lined out and transferred to the different contractors.

It's okay tho, 'cause I get to knock off at 7:30 or 8:00 every night. :>)
