Well Igues I am leaning more to the JD now...just because I know where one is for $8,000 it is one owner, and has 5800 hours on it..I'm starting to like the 2590 more because you see more of them around and saleing more. That says somthing there....

We have had both deere and case for main power on our place. Last deere is a 3020 gas (still have it) then went to a 1070 (couldn't get a deere at the time). Currently are using a 2290 and 2294.

One thing that you should consider is the cab. If you are a weekend warrier it doesn't make much difference. If you are going to use this tractor to make a living it sure does unless you are already deaf. That being said I would suggest the Case. It will have a isolated cab and the Deere won't. If you are a WW I would suggest one of the 6030's.

Yeah I guess so. At least it would be worth considering. The deere will hold it's value a little better but you are already near the bottom of that.

In my area (NW Ia) you don't see 6030's but there are a fair number of 2590's. With anything this age dealer support is a consideration. That being it is better to have something that the mechanic's in the service dept are experienced with, and the parts dept will have parts for, etc.

I am glad you responded to this...I really keep bounceing back and forth on these two machines 2590...6030...2590...6030....They both seem to have TONS of plusses and each have only one minus

6030 minus hard to get parts for getting expensive to fix major plrobems...

2590 minus the JD 6030 Synchro Tranny seems to be a littel more bullet proof than the partial power shift...I think.

We have many Case tractors and have only ever had one powershift go out. Have a 2390 now with 6000 hours and never been touched anywhere. Don't worry about the trannys in the Cases.

rjb it may seem that i only see green but that's not the case.got some of all colors in tractor shed. currently own 6030 and it has a permanent home, excellent tractor for my hd use. if your luck is like mine you'll need a certain part at the worst time, and around here a jd dealer is on every corner plus they have a excellent parts program. it seems that getting parts for some of the others is a little more inconvienent for me, this may not be a problem for you though. hope this helps in your decision keep us posted and good luck

Thanks guys this is helpfull they both seem like great machines! I know where I can get a Case 2590 for $5,000. I have not seen it yet the owner doesnot know the hours or the year, all he seems to know is that it is a Case 2590....that is all and it is a good machine seems strange..
I know where there is a JD 6030 that claims to only have 2800 hours on it for only $3750, this seem really too good to be true. Problem here is can't find any one to deliver it.... NO ONE! Not even for a high rate....strange very strange...

Know where there is another JD 6030 for $8200 the owner seemed to have taken decent care of this one seems to have only 5600 hours. This seem more believeable. Well I hope people still give comments I really do not know which one to choose.....they both have a TON of plusses and maybe one or two minusses...

rjb,, For me and I am a red fan, Hands down....The JD 6030... Brute strength, more hp
than the ave weekend-farmer will ever be able to use. Engine is extreamly realiable,"bullit-proof" when treated right. Tranny is the same.
I have lived many summers on a 5020, which is a non-turbo, inner & after cooled version of a 6030. It will have the best ballance of any row crop tractor you have ever set. Also to date in 72 it was the largest row crop tractor produced.
Most I saw were in excess of 200 horses. It showld have in excess of 3000 lbs of cast on the rear axles, combined. Should have duals too. It will need that much wt to put that kind of hp to the ground.
Good Luck, Hopes this helps!
Later,
John A.
