Probably not, unless battery and cables heat up seriously. Get yourself a meter and check out with some wires connected and some disconnected until you isolate the offending circuit. Troubleshoot that circuit to find the fault and then rectify.

The diagnostic procedure for battery/generator/electrical problems is exactly the same, negative or positive ground. The only difference is the ground.

The easy way is to charge the battery with a charger until fully charged, check the voltage, and then disconnect the negative battery cable and let it sit overnight. Check the voltage in the morning. If it's the same, the battery is likely OK, if not, you have a parasitic drain which may or may not be a short.

Or, any auto parts store will be happy to load test your battery, usually for free.
