Shep;
Looks like half your state is ready to evacuate from Frances. Do not blame them. I see some of the state is still cleaning up and here comes another. Has been one of those weird years. Record cold; tornadoes; hurricanes ect.
Here is wishing you and all others in FLA. best of luck.

Not to offend you or any one else but you did say Enuff Serious Stuff
Thought you might get a kick out of this e-mail picture I got.
SO what’s up with this..... ..... .....

Howdy John !
Kinda late joining in here. Yea, she is gonna blow like hell folks. Got a pre-cursor last night, 3 hr. thunderstorm dumped 4" of rain. Lightning struck so close I felt and smelled the sizzle in the air. That is creepy.

Right now it looks like landfall is well south of me. Those poor folks down there are facing a hard 1, 2 punch - a left followed by hard right cross. First time in 50 yrs. FL has gotten hit with 2 hurricanes in the same season.

Thanks for the well wishes. Been doing nothing but prep work at the home place and work place. For my fellow Floridians I am praying for mercy and protection from harm for all but especially those in the immediate path.

Up here in Jacksonville area we are expecting heavy rains and tornado winds around Monday - still not good. Screwy thing is though that this joker FRANCES just keep wobbling around - final landfall pretty much unknown. Look at how CHARLEY just made a sharp turn.

Hunkered way down in the weeds while still preparing. . .

My wife works for a dental office here in western Washington, with a very generous boss. Every once in awhile, he takes everybody on a trip (he pays for his employees, their spouses go "Dutch"). This time, it"s a cruise- he (and my wife) wanted to go to the Bahamas, but everyone else was leery about flying, etc, and voted for Alaska- so Alaska it is. Departure is Saturday- maybe in retrospect, Alaska turned out to be the better choice. . .

I would love to go to Alaska. When I left Bonners Ferry ID I wanted to be Hunting Guide up there. I ended up driving logging truck for gypo loggers and Louisana Pacific for a short while. I then joined the USN and got sent to the flat lands.

While the SE has its own beauty it pales to the Pacific NW. Send pics of your cruise and I will send pics of our floods :-) (kinda like that Hank Jr. song broadway nites and homemade wine).

Now Shep I hope he sends you those pictures via e-mail and does not post them here. If I see them I just may have to pack up my wife and move. I have always wanted to move to the north west like BC or Alaska. Just could never get use to shoveling white rain.

Hope every thing turns out OK. Do not wish bad luck on any body but that storm track looks good to me. If it gets in the Gulf their is no telling what will happen.

Here is another photo for all you guys up north to enjoy. This was where my father used to live, again thanks to Hurricane Charlie. (He sold out and moved back north a few years back.)

I"m not really sure where Sabal is, but it cant be too far from me. Sabal Road?

I have four farmalls, and about 15 John Deeres, two Cases, and a Case-IH so I guess I"m a mutt when it comes to tractors. My nephew is a Farmall guy (see post on the Farmall board about the Farmall Computer) yesterday....a few pages in.

If we don"t get blown away by Francis, suggest to your Dad to go the the "Pioneer days" parade on Dearborn Street this Monday (labor day)at 9:00, if he is a farm guy. There will be over a dozen Johnny Poppers, in the parade. 7 will be mine, plus I will have my Farmall 340 in it.

Jon C,
I may be UP NORTH, but I'm watching as much as you are. Aside from my JD's in the shed here in So. Minnesota, I have vacation property in Largo, and my son is in Jacksonville. When Charley was approaching, I was packed, truck loaded, and ready to head south. I'm preparing for the same thing this time, in case Francis turns inland and goes across the state like Charley did. John - well, pretty soon we should be able to count up to "two", at least as far a hurricanes anyway. We got blasted by Charley, and now we are freeking out about Francis. The photo is a picture of our local True Value Hardware store, thanks to Charley.

I just got in from tucking the tractors in the shed a little better.

Keep your fingers crossed...and thanks for the good wishes!
