Does anyone know why a gas 4x2 gator would die when it is shifted into gear. It is rare when it keeps running, when shifted. It also idles rough most of the time. Thanks!!

Hey there Mike,
did you ever get a solution or a fix to this? My 6x4 gator is doing the exact same thing, and a few other forums I have found seem to indicate tranmission problems with the gators.

Any help would be awesome!
thanks

Just a wild guess, but do Gators have a seat safety switch like their garden tractors do? In other words it is designed to stall the unit if you fall off while it is in gear? If so I would look for that switch being bad and or a bare spot on the wire.

Check and clean/replace the air filter. The same with the spark plug.

Check to see if the vent on the carb is plugged. This has happened to me a few times on my atv. As soon as a load is added to the engine it croaks.
