I am currently attending South Central Technical college in Southern, MN. I am in the Ag Service Tech. Program. We were told today that we should start thinking about where we would like to serve an internship over the summer. Places we can pick include Dealerships, Truck Shops, Lawn and Garden shops ect. Can anyone who has done this type of an internship give me an Idea of what I should expect? What kind of jobs were you given?

Thanks for any feedback, DRD

One of my sons is a diesel mechanic, via Alexandria Tech. His interest was tractors and trucks, and worked for the local Alex JD dealer. Army Reserve job was also in truck driving and maintenance. Currently works for another of their dealerships, after driving over the road and working in a truck company's shop. Ask yourself- who do you want to work for, with what equipment? Tractors, trucks, small equipment, contractors (heavy equipment). Pick your first choice and intern there. If not satisfied, go to the second. My son still drives occasionally for the trucking company for weekend money, always liked his boss, just got tired of working on trucks, and went back to tractors.

I would assume with most jobs, you start at the bottom & work up..... ;) You would get the simple & tedious stuff to see how you do, & then work you into the more demanding things, one at a time?
