Ran my tractor out of fuel and can"t get started. Have fuel to filter now and loosened return line connections on engine to bleed but no go. Any tips on how to prime this engine? Also how do you test the injection pump for functionality? Thanks Steve

I have a Case 188 diesel in a 1740 skid loader. On it you loosen the air bleed on the top fuel filter and work the fuel primer pump untill pure fuel comes from the bleeder. Close the filter bleeder and pump the primer untill you feel some resistance on the pump plunger.

Bleed from tank to supply line at pump. A lot of pumps have been frozen by just cracking inj lines. Fuel is it's only lube. My $.02

fill the fuel filters with fuel, crack the line at the farthest injector from the pump then crank and when she starts, snug up the line.

Lucass That sounds like it would work. Do you crack the line at the farthest injector on the high pressure side or the return? Thanks Steve

The extra terminal labeled "L" for "Load", where heavy electrical loads are attached and that doesn't go directly through the ignition switch. Your three wire machine will run fine without anything attached. Some regulators will boost voltage a little when the "L" terminal is loaded heavy to compensate for voltage drop on the wiring.
