If you have that aluminum carb. get rid of it and get a cast iron zenith unit. This is the single best improvement you can make.

When you rebuilt the Marvel Shebler did you check the power jet with a vacuum gauge? Did you change the diapram?

I had the carb rebuilt by a JD tech but I doubt he checked vacum or replaced diapram unless it was in overhaul kit . Could give me more details on this process?

I rebult the Marvel on my 4010 with not much improvement. I talked to JD and they said that when the 10 series came out, they were instructed to replace the Marvel with Zenith if anyone had problems. So I bit the bullet and bought a Zenith from Restoration Supply. This was probably the best improvement that I have done to my tractor. I don't work it except for plowing snow and playing, but it seems to go twice as long on the same amount of fuel. It also was a lot easier to adjust. Good luck. Mike
