About a month ago when I turn the key on, there is clicking noise under the dash for about 2 seconds. At first it would start ok, but if it sat for 4 or 5 days, it would crank over fine, but when cracking the clicking noise would be constant and the truck would not start. If I jumped it, the clicking noise would stop and it would start. I replaced the batteries, which were original. Still have same problem, but now it is doing it more often. It cranks over real good and I do not think the batteries are loseing the charge. Has anybody out there had the same problem?

I have a 99 F-350 and I would look for a fuel pump relay or something that would click under the dash, and also a fuel pressure sensor that gives the signal to the computer to cycle the relay, have you changed the fuel filter lately, and remember that the cam position sensor is something that you want to change before you have a problem with it, have you tried to pull the codes from the computer to see if it set one, might be worth a look...

Sounds to me like you have some bad glo plugs. or a bad controler.

My 96 did the same thing. It was the starter about to go out. I had replaced the batteries too. Apparently, starter going out is a common occurance on these since the current is so high to get them started. Replacing the starter is easy, but the core fee is extremely high for some reason.

I would agree but if you really want to know what is going on go to this website. It is without a doubt the best Ford Truck Website there is, especially if you have a Diesel Engine.

Sign-up to thier Forums and ask away. There are close to 70,000 members if not more by now.

I think one of the relays under the hood may be going bad, these are located in the fuse box, look in your owners manual. May need to clean battery post, may need new batteries.

Check the battery with a VOM meter. A good 12 volt battery should read 12.6 volts DC, or higher after sitting overnight with no load. Less than that will indicate a partially discharged condition.
