thanks all for the replys i live in pennsylvania a little town of millrun.the other day we took the magneto off and tryed what the manual said but when we tried firing her up we then had no spark. does any one know any sites where i can get a manual for her?diagrams of anything? Also can anyone tell me the firing order for this tractor? is it just 1234 from the front to the back?or is it 1234 from back to front? the number stamped on the left rearend housing is wd52615 can any one tell me if this is what tells me what year it is or if it is a wd or wd45? and when we try to start it with the choke on it runs gas out the bottom of the carb. if any body has any diagrams for the timing or firing order please email me at chevelle_boy88@yahoo.com thanks everyone for your help really appreacate your time and effort helping me.

Do you have spark to all cyl"s? Take No 1 plug out & turn flywheel to TDC (Top Dead Center) Make sure this the compression stroke. No 1 plug wire goes to that plug. Take dist cap of & see if the rotor is pointing to that terminal inside the cap. Turn the flywheel a little & watch the way it turnes. The next terminal will be No 3 that wire goes on the 3rd spark plug. Than 4 than 2. Did you take the dist out? If you did it has to be timed.

well Josh it is real simple really. You must have spark at the right time. Do you understand how a 4 cycle engine works? Simple explanation. Piston going down draws in clean air mixed with gasoline fumes, weight of flywheel keeps it moving as the piston comes back up and squeezes the molecules real tight and as the piston just reaches the top Wham! you hit that mixture with a spark and it drives the piston back down creating your power, then the piston comes back up expelling the exhaust gasses and starts the cycle over. In a 4 cylinder engine each piston fires in a certain order so one fires every half revolution. Do a little thinking and you will understand how the intake and exhaust valves must open and close to get this properly choreographed.

Josh: After you figure out whether you have a WD or WD-45, go to the left margin of this site and click on Tractor Manuals. Under the Allis manuals get an operators manual and a service manual. Parts manual is also helpful but I don't know how big your pocketbook is. You really need those manuals to get started and then ask your questions here and you might also get lucky and find someone nearby who knows a whole lot about them. They were a very popular tractor because of durability, price, dealer support and, if it's a WD-45, power.

Are you sure your timing is correct and fireing to the proper cylinder? As you go around the mag the spark plug wires should fire 1 3 4 2 This sounds like an easy fix but I have bought more than one tractor that wouldn't run and had the wires misplaced. Too make sure they are in the correct place as far as number 1 cylnder goes. Take #1 spark plug out and put your thumb over it's hole as you turn the engine by hand. As the compression builds you will know, as air will leak around your thumb. Is the #1 sparkplug firing when the #1 piston is at the top of it's stroke? Fuel is getting to the carborator. Is it getting past the needle valve? Does it flood if you crank the engine when choking? If not then check the float and needle valve for sticking and propper settings. Too, check and make sure your plugs are all clean and free of rust, dirt and moisture. Good luck. These are the first steps I use on an old tractor that is not starting.

when you are standing behind the tractor the number will be on the upper left side on the brake housing. it's etched into the housing so it may be hard to read. as far as the rest of your questions it's kind of hard to tell. theres alot of variables. do you have a manual? the allis board may be of more help also. i have a WD myself but it's not my main tractor so i don't mess with it alot. i'm afraid that's all i can help you with. hopefully someone else can do better. where do you live?
