Question for you guys: Will a 23.1-34 tire fit on the same rim that an 18.4-34 fits on? Thanks!

In a word, "No." A 23.1 X 34 is supposed to be on a 20" x 34" rim, while the 18.4 X 34 is supposed to be on a 16" X 34" rim. Tire & Rim Manufacturer's Assoc. who determine the size and tolerances of ag tires & rims approve going one inch in size DOWN from the approved size, but in Your case your looking at FOUR inches. Now, Can You beat & pound on that tire to get it on a 16" rim? sure.... But they're kinda rare but look for a 20.8 X 34 tire.

Some shops will split a rim and add a band to get the desired width, but in this case I think he's better off to just find the right rim. Should be plenty around.

Yeah, I'd rather just buy the right rim. I've tried getting around the 'best' way to do jobs before and often regretted it. Thanks.

I had a ten inch piece welded into combine rims years ago so I could go with a fat tire on a small combine. Great swamp buggy. But for a 4 inch- I'd go for the ready made rim. Not uncommon to find.
