This tractor has had two new hydraulic pumps, all lift cylinders rebuilt, Hydraulic oil changed three times, all by a local John Deere Dealer where I used to live in Nevada. The hydraulics are slow, it surges, I've bled at the output of the pump, at the pressure relief valve, adjusted the responsiveness lever. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong or not doing right. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry

Years ago I had a friend who was having transmission problems with his 360. He had lost the 2 brass gears that work with the positive lock rear-end feature. I got his parts and sent them to him since there was no dealer nearby. The dealer told me that whenever one changes the hyd. oil or cleans the filter, a person should look for brass shavings. This was a sign of impending trouble. If your filter is blocked with these. It might pay to install a new filter. I don't know if you could get them out by cleaning. My dad bought a 360 new, which I now use. He bought 2 or 3 new filters and claimed that the lift worked so much better after installing a new one. I continue to reuse the old ones with no problem. I have a 445 also. I have a problem with water condensation in it and change the oil more often than on the 360. I did this about a year ago but cannot tell it helped very much. The 445 hydraulics are slower than the 360, especially in cold weather.

I changed the hydraulic fluid before I installed the new pump. The screen also was cleaned and no brass shavings. I'll try and buy a new screen and check for any place thats causing air to get in on the suction side of the pump. Thanks to all that have replied. Thanks Larry.

Has the filter been cleaned? It is located below the starter. It has a rubber washer glued on the end of it. Sometimes they come off. I once found a piece of an o ring stuck in one of the valves of my lift. They can be a pain. Good Luck

I removed and cleaned the screen, the O ring was still in place. The hydraulics have always been slow, I've owned this tractor a little over three years. Put 30 hours on it, not much use for it with the hydraulics the way they are. The latest pump has a 25 lpm output, the rotation of the pump is correct also. One troubleshooting section says to replace the pressure relief valve, when I bled the system at this point, there didn't seem to be much pressure, just oil flowing out around the threads. Appreciate your thoughts. Thank You; Larry

Replace the hydraulic filter with new.
