Well spent several hours Fiday afternoon cleaning up some scrub trees in a grown up field. Was using the bush-hog & the loader and I was on and off the tractor constantly. Went to get in the truck about dark and no keys... usually just leave them in the ignition, guess I put them in my pocket. Looked half the day Sat. without any luck. Make sure you guys have duplicates, I was lucky I did.

Drove my mom's new VW to the state fair (about 60 miles from home) when I was a kid, and when I came out to the parking lot at about 1 AM to leave, the VW key didn't work in the door. Was about to break a wing window, but decided to call home first and see if she would rather come up and get me. Turns out the door lock mechanism had broken, and she had had it replaced- the new key looked like a house key, so I hadn't tried it. Sure glad I made that call.

I keep a spare door key wired under the truck to the frame. It has saved my bacon lots of times

I keep a spare in my wallet and a spare in my date book. This ain't my first rodeo.

My Dad went hunting once and after hunting all day he got back to the truck to find the keys locked in the ignition. He had a spare - to the ignition, and not the door. He had to break the wing window out to get home.

That reminds me of an old friend of mine named "Stump". He had an old Toyota Land Cruiser like I did with the hard top on it and went deer hunting one evening. When he returned to his truck at dark, he reached in his pants pocket and found his keys were not there. He assumed that he had left them in the ignition, so he decided to break out the drivers door window with a rock. Well, if you had decided to break out a window, one of the small flat non-moveable windows in the rear doors would have been the less expensive choice, but Stump let loose with a rock against the driver's window and it just bounced off. So, grabbing a larger rock, he really heaved it the second time. Got in the drivers seat and saw that the rock had gone straight through the passenger side window also. Then, he made the startling discovery that the keys were not in the ignition, but in his coat pocket the whole time. When he told this story, I said "Dang, Stump - I don't believe I'd a told that."
