In my quest to improve my driveway,I ran across 500 gallons of asphalt tack;the binder they put down before paving. The owner will let me name my price;but how can I make it harden? He put some down years ago and it is still;well, tacky.Any way to make this stuff harden up?

Around here, they put pea-gravel over the top...call it "seal coat". It took @3apps. over the dirt roads boardering town after a 4" layer of limestone. Now solid as you can ask. Fred

Well around here the highway dept puts down a thin layer of it and then deposits rocks on it one rock thick. Some times the rocks are bare and other times asphalt coated. All the same size.

In a few minutes it hardens and holds the rocks to the point that they let traffic on it. So go and ask them how they do it.

Excellent thought Mark. Works well. I get complained at about the occasional ruts, even though I back blade them from time to time. About a year ago, the county did that to the dirt road in front of my place, but mixed cinder in too. A few weeks ago, they oiled the dirt road T-ing into mine, but only in front of the few houses. Thanks for the idea. Was thinking of lining it with railroad ties and gravel. You've got a much better idea there. Thanks again.
