Allen, I don't see a dilema at all--- "She wants to move out to this quiet place and all I see is dirt to move" Heck, does she have a sister?

Nice place, love the pictures you post.

Hey Big,

It really is a sweet old farm. Was homesteaded 'bout a million years ago, so is naturaly in need of some TLC. Looks like I have to competely rebuild all the corrals and feed bunks.

Actually, it is set up just right as far as pasture ground vs farm ground and will let us do our little "cow thing" like we want.

Plus, at our somewhat advanced age, it helps to not have the aditional labor burden of being irrigated. I still miss the row crops tho. :>(

Thanks fer the hollar,

Allan

Allan, I wish and hope you take care in lifting with that H and loader. The first time I seen that outfit I thought cripes, 500 lbs and 5 feet high on a slight slope and one nice guy and tractor have crack up.
You have way to long of arms and the high reach scares the ----- out of me. It looks like that loader is 10 11 feet or more above the hood of that H.. What is the reach on that loader? Never the less dont end your fun with an upset or rollover. Hope you take this serious. But do what you want.

Hi Itchy,

Not to worry. I know all too well the hazards of working with a loader and have a huge respect for that "tipping" point.

These outfits were originaly designed for stacking hay in the hayfields and thus, the reason for their long reach.

This is the smaller model F-11, which will lift 3500 lbs to something like 17'. The larger F-10s will push a sweepload of hay up to 27 feet and have a capacity of 4000 lbs.

Rock On Allen and don't let the naysayers get ya down. Back in the 50's when the main tractors were the Farmall M, JD A&G, MH 44D and the Oliver super 70 there was a lot of dirt turned with them. I have seeded a lot of wheat with a H on good level ground with an old JD Van Brunt disc drill. I like the view from on top of an old Farmall about the best.

Allan, am surprised the back bumper wasn"t a lot closer to the ground with them wheels loaded. Your new place looks kinda peaceful, with the neighbors a respectful distance away. Glad to hear your machinery hunting is going well. You gonna get a new machine shed up before winter on this place? john in eastern nebraska

Hi Howard,

Probably in a year or so; she's in the process of getting it remodeled now. It is way, way too small in addition to being very old. Plus, my buddy over in Crawford has to punch a new well.

That's our delima; she's wanting to get moved out there amongst the quiet and all I can see is the dirt so's I can play with my old tractors. :>)

Too small? shoot all you guys need is a couple airconditioned rooms for your servers and a cot in the corner to sleep on. You don't have a "life" do you? Kinda like what I do here. crawl outa bed and I'm at work.

You nailed that one.

Step one is to put on the socks. Step two is work.

Repeat these steps in a continual and never ending manner. :>)

I still think that looks like too much loader for an H ? Especially when you were lifting those bales ! An H is pretty light.

I thought the same thing when he lifted that plow. We had an F-11 on a 4010D and I wouldn´t have wanted it on anything smaller for any heavy jobs.

Heck, I dunno,

Must be all in what a guy is used to, I guess. I think this one is totally underworked and is just loafin' around.

During the 50s and 60s we stacked 2,000 lb sweeploads of alfalfa hay using the H under the F-10s. That made 'em grunt. :>)

Allan, Glad you got them home safely. Place looks nice to me too. I can tell by your truck you live in the land of salted roads! Does the H have power steering?

Hi KEH,

The old truck took the salt hit when I was living up in North Dakota. Was a darned fine looking truck til that move. :>(

Yes, the boys over on the Farmall board showed me how to strap on the live hydraulics and power steering last winter. That sure made a tractor out of 'er. Handles that loader without a whimper.

I'm toying around with the idea of using the little H to plant the alfalfa too. That ought to be kinda fun again. Derned fuel cost might bring tears to my eyes tho. :>(

Hi Ya Brian,

They will go on the 686 for now to work the wheat stubble prior to planting of alfalfa. They could also fit on the 966 as the two tractors have the same size tires.

Yep, finally found a packer this morning at the place where I bought the duals. Same identical packer that I used to have before the farm sale. Not too bad of shape and a pretty fair price too.

Now, to figure out how to get that gizmo moved up here 100 miles before I'll need it in September.

I'm havin' the darnest run of luck here lately finding old, cheap machinery. Hope it holds. :>)

Allan;

Just dont let a load like that get to swingin. That will turn a tractor over pretty quick. And no,I never upset a loader. We had F-10 loaders on several different tractors over the years. I know Dad was always giving me the what for for having too heavy a load when putting up hay. steveormary
