Has anyone else been watching this one? I thought it sold last week for $81. It was listed again and immediately it was up to around $50. All of a sudden the price dropped to just one cent, I bid $1, and almost immediately the price was up to $54 again. This one looks very fishy, I retracted my $1 bid.

If you click on the bids and scroll down he has cancelled the first bid and changed the description. apparenlty he wanted to make a correction and allow the bidder to chnge his mind if he wished.

Sometimes ebay"s system doesn"t work quite right. I think it kinda depends on the speed of your server too. Certain times of the day their computers are overbooked as well. AS ALWAYS buyer BEWARE!

I remember looking at that carb last week, also remember the description of it not being cleaned on the inside. Don't remember what the price was though. Sometimes I think ebay has problems with their equipment, I bid on an NOS part last nite right at the end of the auction, it was one of those buy it now for $250.00, my bid was less than $50, when I hit submit, my screen went blank untill after the time was up for the auction and I had never confirmed my bid, when things were back to normal I confirmed my bid and left ebay knowing the auction was already over, later when I checked my mail, I had won the bid for 48 bucks.

I recently bought a W-6 PTO Shield from somebody named Ron's Tractors in Ohio. I think I paid $8.00 for it; it was probably worth $25 and could have been bidded up to $50 or more if two or three people really wanted it. I was out sick when I received notification that I had won the item. I was late sending the guy payment because I was out sick, but I added an additional $5.00 for being late.

I recently got the check back from Ron saying he couldn't accept the check because it was not for the right amount and he did not receive check within the specified time.

While he was within his legal limits, he saw an opportunity to put it back on e-bay and try to get alot more money for it than I was paying, even though I sent additional money as an act of good faith.

I don't like dealing with people who hide behind the rules for their own benefit.

Looks OK to me, he's got great feed back over a long period of time. Looks like he keeps selling the same type stuff. I'd think either he had 2 or more of the same carbs, or he got hung by a bad buyer on the other carb sale. I wouldn't be afraid to bid on anything he had that I wanted.

I'm not saying it's not, but look at the feedback rating the guy has. 600+ feedbacks and over 99% are positive. He must do things right most of the time.

I agree, the feedback is great, which is why I wasn't afraid to bid on it the first time, but the pictures and the description keep changing, even when the auction has not yet ended. I'm not saying he is doing anything wrong, but red flags have gone up for me.

I'm not saying this has anything to do with this particular auction, but apparently it HAS happened where a scammer will hijack the ebay ID of a reputable seller, and then pull all kinds if goofy stuff with it, using the other person's good name and feedback.

If in doubt about a particular auction, email ebay with your suspicions, and HOPEFULLY they will investigate.

And he is being honest about not having cleaned the inside, nor is he claiming to know what is inside there, so anyone who buys it and finds that there is a rotted float and solid crud inside has nothing to complain about. I'd plan on spending more than 5-10 minutes to get it back into operational condition though.

Exactly, several hours would be more like it. plus the use of a torch to heat things up so you can get the various parts to actually come out without breaking them.
